Dell Inspiron 15r
« on: February 26, 2013, 03:54:58 PM »
whats up guys!  today I got my new computer ive been waiting for..  it is a Dell Inspiron 15r special edition 7520

so far so good seems powerful, I like the design, plenty of USB ports, HDMI

not so sure how i feel about windows 8 yet, its kinda like having a laptop and a phone in one is the best way i can describe it, lol, it took me 15 minutes to figure out how to turn it off the first time, and i even knew to expect that.

the best part so far is it comes with a 2 gig AMD graphics card. It runs oclHashcat at about 20,000 k/s on wpa/wpa2

I booted up the THS-OS via usb and everything seemed to work great right out of the box, no issues with sound or anything...

all in all its a pretty damn nice computer...

Sounds like a sweet laptop but I would personally switch Windows 8 out for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and run BT, Backbox , Windows or what ever OS you use in a VM using VMware workstation. The Ubuntu OS will give you less headaches and when you want a migrane you just boot up your Windows VM  :D

This link will help you if you really wanted to switch over since UEFI can be a big pain in the ass on Windows 8 laptops.  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI

Cool thanks man, but I am gonna leave it the way it is for now, I have my other one that has the THS-OS as the main OS and evrerything else I could possibly need in VM's. Honestly, Hashcat is about 95% of the reason I bought it, lol.

Well I took a chance and pulled the trigger..... I bought other HP Dv6 7000 I7 ... The thing that made me buy that one is that I could add 12 gig of memory... so it's going to be a beast ... should get it next week.

Well I played around with it because at work I had to setup one of our users. It's nice once you figure things out. I think change is good if you plan on learning.
If I can't stand it I will just reload win7 on the machine.
