Alfa Network adapters fast fix after fresh install !
« on: May 31, 2013, 04:25:30 PM »
Hi,

As we have few users with same issue with Alfa network adapters(model h and nh) and channel -1, this is easy fix. I want to say that we have updated OpenVas and some other packages too. Thanks to people who have made tests on their BackBox installation. When you are done with BackBox install, run this :

EDIT: We have new wiki post.

First run in terminal:

sudo -i

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade

Check your Kernel version :

uname -r

Then read and install compat drivers aircrack patched:

http://wiki.backbox.org/index.php/Compat-drivers_aircrack_patched

Keep me posted !

Depends what you need it for, if it's injection you need it for then your best option is the AWUSO36H

Drivers supported by aircrack-ng (patched of course) are supported in BBox4. I don't have Alfa adapter right now, but I use Ralink as well. I posted before in this forum how to install Ralink backports and patch them. I didn't test my solution with BBox 4 because my card is working now out of box, but i will look in this topic more when i get some free time.

Yes it does work, you just need to stop network manager. I tested it with alfa card.

Thanks for confirming that for me.
