I just found an old ASUSTek RT2573 in a box and can confirm that they work with BackTrack 5 and THS OS with no modifications or manual driver loading required.

ASUSTek Computer, Inc. RT2573 - using the mac80211 rt2500usb/rt73usb drivers -passed

I tested using VurtualBox and creating the USB filters manually.  This card can be hard to source as it is old but they do pop up on ebay every once in a while and I see them at flea markets occasionally.

Oh yes.  And for those of you who might be worried about buying refurbished computer equipment don't.  Refurbished = better than new.  It used to be that all computer equipment had a multiple day burn in.  Now days almost no one does it and so you as the purchaser gets to do the burn in...  Whereas refurbished goes back to a real human who goes over the device, fixes it, and then burns in the device.   Moral to the story is buy refurbished and get a better product for much less money!

Just be warned that since Backtrack came out with BT5 R2, that they changed something in their kernel. R4V3N made an extensive list of all compatible wireless cards, but since Backtrack 5 R2, some of them may no longer work. Why they did this, I don't know...

Haha, honestly not sure. I just wanted you to be aware that the list may not be 100% accurate anymore.

which one did you buy? Do you have a url for it?
I'm still looking for one that I could connect with the antena I have for a wider range

is from the URL you posted above...   Grin.

I do understand what you mean though since I have a bunch of stuff that went to my PCMCIA wireless cards.  I will admit that I rarely used them as it was just easier to grab a soda can, cut the top and bottom off and tape the thing to whatever antenna was attached to the wireless card.  Worked fine for sitting in an adjacent parking lot and took up no room in my travel bag.

Was just digging around in my box o plenty and found a random USB wireless card, a belkin f5d7050.  Gave it a try and it worked great with airodump-ng and mdk3 on BT5 and THS OS, and they are still for sale on amazon for $13
