ML osx 10.8 Wireless dongle that works with BT5?
« on: November 20, 2012, 07:40:57 PM »
Hey guys,

So it is my inconvenience, that alfa 0036h does not work with the new rMBP's. So i have a worthless alfa card, at least for my mac. Anyone know a good wireless dongle or alfa like wireless card, that is compatible with backtrack and mac osx 10.8?

Well that is no good em3rgency. I was not aware that the Alfa Cards did not work on the new version of Mac. If you do find a solution, please let us know. I will make sure to ask those who purchase an Alfa Card from us, what system they will be using from now on until we find a solution then.

Not having a Mac, I have no way of testing this, and I do not know if it will work with 10.8 as this was for 10.7.  I also don't know if you already tried this possibly, but figured it was worth a shot.
There seems to be quite a bit of info about KisMAC on Google, good and bad so... ./me shrugs

Not the one for digging old threads up,

However spending a good amount of time finding a wireless usb card for backtrack with monitor and injection modes. I stumbled upon a old(ish) b/g/n usb card in the back of the cables draw.

Small inconspicious Belkin F6D4050 v1 monitor/inject. Chipset is a RAlink RT2870/3070

Finding anything that works on both OSX 10.8 and backtrack with mon/packetinject is a complete ball ache so might be of use. Relatively easy to pick up in the UK unlike the alfa cards.

Also running a Mbp on 10.8.2, so it has been tested on both backtrack and osx ml.
Backtrack - runs out the box.
Mac - driver from Belkin site.

Hey dude.. I have a similar setup.. the issue with mac os x and the alpha cards is simple.. they only wrote 32bit drivers and we are now running 64bit o.s.'s.... there fucking solution was to hold down the shift key forcing the o.s. to go into 32bit mode when booting... utter rubbish. Although now thinking about this, there might be a drive that you can find online that a 3rd party wrote to get it to work.  I'm sure there are a good amount of people in the same boat as us.

em3rgency,

The TP-Link TLWN722N works fine under 10.8, just FYI.
