BackTrack 5 finds wrong password
« on: October 26, 2013, 11:20:07 PM »
Hy everyone!

I`m using BackTRack 5 to find a password fora a wifi router, everything goes ok, after a while it cracks the pin and password, but when i try to connect to the router it says "password mismatch". I start backtrak again, and when it finished, the pin is the same but the password is difffernet. By the way the password are king of strange, can any oane help me?

  • WPS PIN: '09739543'
  • WPA PSK: '1C01A93CA958FD483F3E9138EEED0DCC5AE822DF426CD7A7E710279A11AF042C'
  • AP SSID: 'Network-f4ec38eca912'

This is what backtrack finds, i tried three times, each time the pin is the same but the password is different. I am using reaver with the following command: " reaver -i mon0 -b SSID -d 0 -vv "

If you do a seardh on the forum for Reaver you should find a few more precise commands to help you with your attack. I believe most of the tuts were either by Gh0sDog or D4RK50ld13R if I'm not mistaken and they have a nice script to run the attack as well which might be good to open up and read what it is exactly doing for the attack. Hope this helps!

Make sure you are either testing on a router that you own, or one you have Permission to test on. Use a set password to test against. That way you will know what the password is and this can assist in your issue.
