Defcon Biohacking Village Announces Speakers :P
« on: July 27, 2016, 10:29:44 AM »
Well those suckers at Defcon have fallen for it again...and it looks like they are giving me another hour ;)

17:30 : Nootropics: Better Living Through Chemistry or Modern-Day Prometheus

Speaker: Gingerbread
@the_real_gbm
hac.kthepla.net

About GingerBread:
Gingerbread man is an Information Security cookie from the greater Denver area. Requiring little sleep, and seemingly immune to alcohol, he is consistently seen at hacker events across the country while never seeming to actually do any work. With no verifiable credentials or formal training, there is the strong possibility he is making all of this stuff up.

Abstract:
Gingerbread will present one mans take on the current state of nootropics and other cognition-enhancing drugs. Beginning with the neuro-enhancing drugs of the ancient Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine, working our way through the developments of the 1990s and 2000s, and finishing with the chaotic internet connected and unregulated world of today.

From Gingko Biloba to Pig Brain Concentrates, from cutting-edge science in million-dollar state of the art labs, to the crowd sourcing of syntheses for never-before-tested-in-man substances to be manufactured by the lowest bidder and distributed to the public wholesale.

I will present a few case study examples of both objective successes, and undeniable failures with self-experimentation. Gingerbread will try and explain (to the best of [his] ability) a bit of what we know about the action of these drugs, why we think we know it, as well as ongoing developments in the fight to preserve cognition in the elderly and infirmed and to push the abilities of healthy individuals past their biological limitations.

Super excited.
Free drinks (or drugs) for all THS'ers in attendance.

The quieter you become, the more you are unlikely to sound stupid.

Very nice man!  Hope I get to hear the talk on the back side at least since I don't get to attend.

WOW that's awesome... Well you will have to share some of your paper that you're going to talk about. We talked about nootropics before so this would be very interesting to me....

The video of my talk is up on the DEF CON media server and on Youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCIbz6p_5RM

I had to trim the 60mins I was given into <30mins with quite literally *zero* notice (if you look carefully on the 'full' version of the talk on the DEF CON server you can see, during the "Buy T-Shirts" announcement, me being told by the stage hand that I had only 30 minutes and my subsequent reaction. I was NOT happy... LOL), so it isn't my best work, but it certainly isn't my worst either...so it was not a total loss for sure...

(And I JUST noticed, that of those 30mins...they used TWO MINUTES of my time to make some bullshit T-Shirt announcement. The person running the village this year was a joke :P)

Just wait until you see what the Missus and I have been working on this year ;)

That was awesome presentation you put. Would of loved to see the rest of your slide. You know me i have tried many different nootropics but it's always good to learn more. Are you going to share the slide ?

On other note I might change my current stack, and go back to the basic again like a N00b. start only with one nootropic and move on from there.
